1. Zărneşti, The bears sanctuary

Only from the age of 9 months a teddy bear can stand on his feet and can seek food and shelter. Leonardo Bereczky, the engineer who protect "the bear kindergarten" believes that the whole country, every year, occur on average every 15 orphans. Baby Bear.Luckily some of these babies are found by people that are not even caged sticks, do not go to the circus, or not walking the streets, to make money from them, but they bring in "kindergarten "of Harghita, officially called" rehabilitation center for orphaned bear offspring", wich is under the administration of the Association for preserving nature.It is the system created by Leonardo Bereczky. He and four other experts have had in care over 50 teddy bears. Orphans remain at the center until the age of 2 years. Then he let them in nature to live happily ever after, until at 37, as a bear's life.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has celebrates last year 50 years of worldwide nature conservation purposes and habitats, while the Romanian branch of environmental organization marked the fifth year. WWF Romania was established in 2006 as part of the Danube-Carpathian Programme to help conserve natural areas in the Carpathians and the Danube. Moreover, the Danube-Carpathian eco region, which also includes Romania, is considered-by the WWF - as the most important 200 ecoregions in the world with a remarkable biodiversity.
Now, WWF Romania has ongoing projects that aim to:
- special natural conservation value forests and their management responsible, long-term benefit people and nature(it is considered that the Carpathian Mountains are home to the largest area of virgin forests in Europe, after Russia: about 350,000 ha. 250,000 of these are in the Romanian Carpathians, according to an inventory completed in 2003, and only 18% are protected).
- declaration of a new protected areas as the first step to keep them. Long-term efforts are needed to maintain exceptional values for which will be declared protected natural areas, whether it is plant and animal species or habitats of rare or valuable, special scenery or cultural values.
- conservation of bear brown. The bear is a symbol of wealth and diversity of nature. Bear presence is evidence of a healthy natural environment.
- Lower Danube Green Corridor. In 2000, the governments of Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and Moldova are committed to work together to create a green corridor along the Lower Danube. Lower Danube Green Corridor was and is still one of the most ambitious initiatives for reconstruction and protection of wetlands in Europe.
- Green borders. Since 2009, WWF is developing the project Life + "Trans-border Conservation cormorant and red duck in key-areas of Romania and Bulgaria"
- Conservation and integrated management of Danube's islands.Danube islands are a really home to a rich diversity of plant and animal species, many of which are protected, both nationally and internationally. Hundreds of species of birds nest, feed and rest on these islands during migration.
- Delta, a natural wear to Europe. Designated in 1991 as a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention, the Danube Delta is World Heritage listed and recognized worldwide as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO- Man and Biosphere Program, 1992.
- Loby and advocacy. WWF is monitoring the compliance with environmental protection legislation, take action and convince policy makers to implement or amend legislation for the benefit of nature and sustainable development.
